Who are the Instructors for 2012?
The list of Instructors and Assistant Instructors is determined in the weeks preceeding the start of the first camp session. When we have the definitive list, we'll post it here.
What's the difference between an Instructor and an Assistant Instructor?
Instructors are qualified to teach all or most of the many skills taught at the camp. They have had experience teaching in a number of settings and with a wide variety of age groups, and are highly proficient in executing the techniques they teach. All Instructors have had a minimum of three years of experience with the Ring, averaging out to about 900 hours of instruction and practice, not counting their performances at various events.
ssistant Instructors are paired with Instructors to help teach and also to learn about teaching. They have had less experience instructing and performing, with only about 300 hours accrued, but they are still proficient in all the skills we teach. Assistant Instructors may also be Ring of Steel members who come for only a day or two to help with teaching or demonstrating a particular activity, such as mini-trampoline or high falls.
My child has attended camp several times and is interested in becoming an Assistant.
Please email rosteel(at)umich(dot)edu if your child is interested in working with us at camp. Generally we do not take former campers as Assistants unless they have been attending Ring rehearsals on a reasonably regular basis and they have demonstrated a high level of ability as performers, and had some experience teaching our material.
What forms of payment do you take?

Do you offer any payment plans?
Payment plans can be arranged by request. If you would like to set up a pay schedule, please email Maestro Barbeau- ringmaestro(at)umich(dot)edu to discuss details.
My child and I would like to observe the camp before registering.
If you would like to observe a camp, please email us at rosteel(at)umich(dot)edu to arrange a date and time to visit a session. If your schedule doesn't permit a daytime visit, you can request to visit a Ring of Steel rehearsal where we can show you what activities campers take part in and introduce you to some of our instructors.
