The Ann Arbor Independence Day Parade

Young folk at with the Ring of Steel at the Independence Day Parade

Attention Campers past, present, and future:  you are now welcome to join the Ring of Steel in marching down the streets of Ann Arbor this season!

Whether you've attended our Academy in the past, have just come from your very first session, or are planning on coming at a later date, you too can wave a sword and walk down the street in costume!  The Ring of Steel has become a staple of the Ann Arbor Independence Day Parade, thrilling spectators with our fights and fire whip on the stage trailer.  You can wear any costume that doesn't restrict sight or movement, and the club will provide rapiers for all campers.  Keep in mind that the weather will probably be hot, so dress accordingly.  Water will be provided in limited supply while we walk (remember, the water is being given to all the Ring of Steel club members in addition to the campers!).  Although campers are not allowed to perform on the trailer, they are welcome to walk alongside, waving their swords or performing fights and drills.  Club members will be on hand to supervise smaller campers. If we get enough young people attending this event, we may even make a second trailer just for them!

For campers who did not attend the session directly before the Independence Day parade, we require that their enrollment deposit be paid already.  Campers who have neither attended nor paid their enrollment deposit will not be allowed to participate.

All parents/guardians will be asked to sign a liability waiver on-site.
